Skin Dehydration - what it really means

Skin Dehydration - what it really means

When your skin becomes dehydrated through the likes of, air conditioning, the weather, lack of sleep, not drinking enough water, hot showers, airplanes & many more everyday toxins it’s protective barrier get weaker.

The protective barrier defends your body against the above threats while simultaneously protecting your body's critical water balance. When this becomes damaged the foundations start to crack, thus not keeping irritants or germs out of the skin & preventing water loss from the skin.

Signs such as redness, flakiness, tightness, itchiness, rough to touch, fine lines, increased breakouts & rashes can indicate the breakdown of the protective barrier.

You can repair your skins barrier by having a simple skincare regime, focusing on products with a suitable pH & moisturising with a humectant like Hyaluronic acid. Or a good amount of Niacinamide's which actually tell your skin to make more Ceramides, these fatty acid molecules make up 40% of your skin barrier.

Hydrating regularly throughout the day is critical in the fight to restore & maintain a healthy skin barrier. This is easy with a face mist that can be popped in your car, bag, office, & just like reaching for your water bottle, remember to reach for your face mist too.

After all, our bodies are made up of 70% water, we must hydrate both inside & out.
